Bringing a Human-Centred approach to remanufacturing

Syxis will be present at the rEUman Conference – Solutions for Smart Human-Centric Remanufacturing, taking place on 1 October 2026 in Ljubljana and online. As a partner of the rEUman project, Syxis will join researchers, industry representatives and innovation stakeholders to explore how digital technologies and human-centred approaches can support a safer, more efficient and sustainable European remanufacturing sector.

The conference will be an opportunity to share the progress of the project, discuss the challenges faced by the sector and explore how innovative solutions can be translated into real industrial environments.

Addressing the digital challenges of remanufacturing

At 9:55, Konstantinos Grevenitis from Syxis will contribute to the programme with the session “rEUman Digital Challenges Overview”. His contribution will focus on one of the fundamental challenges behind the digitalisation of remanufacturing: the availability and usability of data. In many industrial environments, information remains fragmented across different systems, formats and workflows, while products can lose their identity as they move through disassembly, component recovery and subsequent remanufacturing cycles.

This makes it difficult to fully exploit technologies such as AI, automation and Digital Product Passports. Within rEUman, the approach is to standardise the way information is described and connected, rather than forcing factories to adopt the same processes. By creating common principles for identifiers, naming, provenance and access, different production environments can retain their own workflows while making their data more traceable and usable across digital tools.

Syxis: connecting the project with the wider innovation ecosystem

Within rEUman, Syxis contributes to the joint exploitation of project results, while also exploring the further development and use of concepts related to data management for the circular economy.

Beyond the project activities themselves, Syxis will leverage its European innovation network to support the dissemination and uptake of rEUman results, connecting the project with relevant stakeholders, communities and potential future collaborators.

This role reflects Syxis’ broader mission as an innovation hub and network enabler: connecting people, knowledge and opportunities to help innovative solutions move beyond individual projects and create new pathways for collaboration and impact.
