High-temperature heating processes with breakthrough microwave and digital technologies for increased energy efficiency

The project aims to lead a breakthrough research focused on introducing a micro-wave-based heating system to the high-temperature heating processes usually conducted at a temperature higher than 400°C in three industrial sectors (ceramics, asphalt, aluminium).

METAWAVE will target seamless integration of renewable energy sources to power the microwave-based heating systems.

The goal is to trigger the electrification and decarbonization of the process industry and foster the twin transition by overcoming the techno-economic barriers that prevent the industry from the widespread adoption of such technology. 

Syxis in the project: 

Syxis will provide its technical expertise to enable the development of the digital process plant.

Together with the other partners, Syxis will coordinate the activities related to the deployment of the project’s IT infrastructure, working on delivering the design and reference architecture of the digital data platform.
