Seamless Digital Integration in Steel Value Chain for High Quality Final Product

Enhance digitalization in the steel industry, improving product quality, and optimizing energy use to reduce CO2 emissions.

.SMARTChain is a project designed to enhance digitalization in the steel industry by advancing process control and optimization.  

Its goal is to achieve horizontal integration in the steel value chain through secure data sharing and improved interoperability among systems and tools.  

This approach aims to enhance the quality of both final and intermediate products while optimizing energy consumption and reducing CO2 emissions, thereby supporting the EU’s climate neutrality goals.  

The project will focus on fostering communication between steelmakers and users to optimize product quality and will employ various technologies to achieve these objectives.

Syxis in the project:

Syxis is responsible for implementing a framework to ensure that the project SMARTChain is fully compliant with all legal, ethics and societal applicable rules. 

Syxis will be in charge to developing and implementing a data management layer from IoT systems connected to production machines located in steel users’ factories.   

This solution will be used to enable data management, storage and dispatching as well as providing access control capabilities to time based data-sets and pilot information, following cybersecurity best practices.  

A user inteface will be developed in the steel users’ factories to access data in a practical and useful way 

An IDS-based steel Data Space that will provide the infrastructure for data exchange using IDS connectors will be implemented by Syxis.
